I just got done doing a 2006 Porsche 996 Turbo. The headlights weren't terrible and it was a buddies car and I figured I would hook him up to help spread the word the higher level customer. Everything seemed to go ok but I had to do some hand sanding and it I was never able to get the area where I had to do it by hand to clear up. I also noticed that when I was finished the lens still looked like there was tons of pitting however it felt EXTREMELY smooth to the touch prior to the UV coating so I coated it as usual and the pitting appeared. What might have been my problem? Could I have fixed the pitting with more sanding?
In the picture below (not the actual car) you can see a round "chrome" trim piece in the top center of the lens. I had a very hard time sanding/polishing around this area (doing this part by hand) and I was not happy with the results around it after applying the UV. How should I go about restoring around that chrome piece?
On the subject of putting on a second coat does anyone do this and if you do how long do you wait before you apply a second coat? What would be the advantage of applying a second coat?
