Hello Alll Fellow WSR Techs,
I have a quick question and I am sure Ill get some answers.
I have noticed that when using the spring loaded plunger it feel as if it is rubbing against metal. When "New" it didnt feel or sound like this.
It only does this when pulling up to expand the spring.
Is there any routine care associated with the plunger other than normal care after each repair such as "denatured alcohol"?
Or do any of you suggest lubrication? If so what kind?
As far as storage I always keep my plungers (2) stored closed in its proper area of the "DeltaToolBox"
Have a great Labor Day!
Thanks Techs!

Hmmm, I have not heard or felt that with my plungers. I have been using mine for 3 years now without a problem. I am sure Brent can help you with your problem. On the bright side the plungers have a life time warranty so they can send you a new one if there is a defect out of your control.

If you are doing one repair after another you can use compressed air to blow off/out the injector between uses, but if it will not be used again immediately be sure to rinse with denatured alcohol. Lastly, your injector is under warranty so feel free to send it in so our Technicians can examine it.

Korey!
Hey hope all is well. I in fact do use both Compressed air and Denatured Alcohol after every repair. If Im performing multiple repairs at one time I do wait until completetion of all before cleaning.
Its not really what you say "GRINDING" maybe its just me and it only feel as if it needs lubrication. Only 1 of my 2 plungers do this. Ill wait it out and see if the other starts or if what I feel is rubbing stops.
Thanks for the offer! Ill keep you posted!

Re: Plunger Care/Concern
Chad,
The I100 injector is machined to very precise tolerances, so any nick, bur, or bend in the metal can cause the sound/feel you are experiencing, expecially right after cleaning with alcohol as that tends to clean out the pores in the metal and exagerates any flaws there may be. Does it go away when there is resin in the chamber? The resin acts as a lubricant when in use, but we do not recommend the use of anything else as a lubricant as it may contaminate the resin.
Typically the only time we hear of this problem with the I100 is if it has been dropped, but like Korey said we will be happy to take a look at it for you. I don't think it will effect your ability to fill a break in any way, but if it has not been dropped it should work as smoothly as the day you purchased it.
