New Biz

Starting a WR biz and had a couple of questions

As far as making forms for billing and such, is there templates out there?

Also does delta kit training classes cover different aspects of the business besides the technical portion?

Does this sound like a good order to follow:

Get kits
Make logo/truck magnets/t-shirts
Already have bus. license
Get liability insurance
Call safelite/lynix to get packets
Open small busiess bank account
Get leads, fleet accounts ect

Am I missing anything?

Thanks guys

Bsh1wash,
I would like to formally welcome you to the windshield repair forum. There is a wealth of information on the forum and technicians from across the world. During Delta Kits Factory Training & Certification Course the different aspects of the business is covered. Also, we have numerous of helpful documents such as disclaimers and sample invoices to help you get started. Also, it sounds like you are on the right track but I am sure other technicians will chime in.

bsh21wash,

Hey glad to see your here! WSR is a very exciting career oppurtunity and can generate you a well endowed income as long as your willing to learn and finish the race. That said starting any business is very testing, tedious and sometimes frustrating. However you have available to you resources that wasnt available to me when I began my journey some 5 years ago.

As Korey stated you sound as if your on the right track.

Get kits
*Do you have a kit yet? (if not I can say from a Delta Kit user thier Kit is OUTSTANDING and in my opinion surpasses the competition. Through timely research we found and made the right choice by choosing Delta. Delta tools are easy to use with no need for "pumps' or "hoses" and delivers perfect results eavry repair. On top of that from experiance Delta Kits Customer Service is AWESOME! I dont think there is a better CS out there!

Make logo/truck magnets/t-shirts
*Not sure if you know of anyone in your area that can supply you with great quality on apparel yet I could send you to a really great company that could handle this for you! As far as your Logo, Have you designed one ? If not and you could use some help let me know as this is a side hobby of mine.

Already have bus. license
*Cool Deal!!!

Get liability insurance
*Again, not sure if you have gotten quotes thus far but keep in mind if your wanting to do the Insurance side of the business you will need at least $500,000.00

Call safelite/lynix to get packets
*Are you planning to do all your EDI Billing yourself? If so then continue to aquire such credentials yourself. However remember EDI Billing Directly is very hassle and frustrating in itself. You could maybe conversate with SGT here on the forum or just ask in a new topic and Im sure other techs here have experianced this. I would reccomend using an EDI Service such as ACT. ACT will actually aquire such credentials from the networks for you!

Open small busiess bank account
*A MUST!

Get leads, fleet accounts ect
*This is a very exciting and a must for any business! Get you sales pitch down, your best selling face on and hit 'em hard! And dont look back. Develop tough skin! As you will more than likely get some No's. But keep in mind thats business! Although you get No's dont stop or give up on that prospected customer! Persistance Pays!

I wish you the best and look forward to updates from you on how your business is coming! Have FUN!!!!

Glad to Help-!

My buddy and I started this, he has a kit, I do not as of yet. I will look into the delta kits.

I do not have a logo yet...kinda struggling on this.... I would love some help!!

Any suggestions for the insurance? How much does this usually cost?

As far as the whole billing thing, I planned on doing it myself, but I'll check out ACT

THanks for the help

bsh21wash, welcome to the forum. May I ask you where you are located at? Is it the US, Canada or ...? I am sure that you'll find sombody near you who can help with your logo. For example; any printing shop will also have a designer, go there, share your idea, agree on the price and give it a go. There's also a number of internet based logo services available, use your search engine to find the vendors, in many situations you will be done for under $150.

Congrats on your new venture!

You can find simple logos (simple text logos are the best - easy to read and remember) on the web by typing in "Free Logo ideas" into Google.

Get some simple invoices made and some simple (half 8.5X11) 2 color flyers made up (with a phone number you can answer) and be clean cut, clean dressed and professional (a shirt with your business name on it gives a good image) Look professional. People want to know they can trust you with their vehicle (and keys - some times they will hand you their keys and tell you to go out in the parking lot to do the repair) so first impressions are important!!

Start by setting goals and doing your research for windshield repair marketing ideas (try Google) and use them.

The ones who have done this are all over this forum. Go back and look for posts regarding this.......... A lot of really smart (and experienced) pros are here.......No need to reinvent the wheel - just copy what is already being done.

Keep your chin up! This is a great business. you will love it!

Come back to the forum often for the latest ideas and to add your experiences..........we all benefit

Good Luck!
