Just wanted to let you know I used your advice with the Bernzomatic 4000 and ultilized the "Beast"! Have had good results so far and it saved me some valuable set-up and cure time in our 6-15% weather. Boy, would I love to move this business South or SouthWest one of these days. 8) If this cold spell continues much longer.... I might be shopping at the army surplus store for a good frostbite kit!
Have be honest and tell you they were only flat glass rubber set windshields. Those seem to be the most forgiving with temperture changes cause they allow for expansion. Haven't been brave enough to try it on a urethane set windshield yet! I'll give a shot later in the week when I feel more comfortable
And I thought I was being brave with the little butane lighter it has a built in warning device to keep me from using to much heat (warns me by burning the skin off my finger when it gets to hot LOL )
Your right! Everytime I use the torch I have this sensation of grilling up a nice juicy steak!!! Unfortunately until this cold snap stops....it's been all chicken soup lately Not all bad though! I've managed to lose 8lbs since the holidays. I'll be grilling again in March
GlassStarz,
I personally know how you've felt lately working outside in Vermont. I just keep telling myself next year I'm going on a cruise. For some reason these warm thoughts seem to help keep me pressing on on these days. Wish somewhere in my genes I was part Eskimo though right now!!! Probably help
Thanks David for rubbing that one in....just wait till summer! I'll get you back when it's 100 + degrees
It's a dream for some of us to make it to these conventions. I always say next year....but still need to work harder at making that reality! Nice goal to work towards though
I look at it this way... I "survived" another winter to this point, and it's all downhill from here. I think the first half of winter is tough because you still have that dreaded long cold season ahead. Now we are in the middle of it and we are still standing, as always.
Just think that in only 6 or 8 weeks from now we will be getting some serious tastes of spring. Weeks go by like days anymore, so I figure this winter is almost over. 8) 8)
Well good point. I do understand cold though buddy. I used to do chips in Spokane Washington, and it got pretty cold there. I remember having to scrape ice off of windshields all the time. However I would trade the heat for the cold. I hate the summers here, they suck.

Hey, you could try to set up a George Forman grill on the dash. This way you can cook a steak and warm the glass at the same time. Just kidding, I use a small butane torch but then again the coldest day I have seen in the last 19 years was 17 degrees.
