Heat Sync Tool

Post by GLASSTIME »

Hello Fellow WSR Techs,

I wanted to write a bit on my new Heat Sync Tool!

If you guys donot have this tool in your arsenal of tools I would highly reccomend purchasing one.
Its shorter and as wide as a business card!
And wieghs nothing but is built Tough! To me it looks like a "PALM" from a chess piece.

I have used it I took the hair dryer and heated up my practice laminate to about 108 f, placed the Heat Sync over my POI and recorded temps w/ the digital thermometer! If I pointed it at the base of the Heat Sync tool it was reading temps in high 80's and increasing but when I pointed it at the coils above the base it read 75's and dropping.

I removed the tool and read the POI again and this was after about 30 secs it read 78. So this little Paper Weight, Palm looking shiny tool Does the Trick!
Now I can toss my aluminum plate!

There is a post with a picture of this tool. I havent seen this tool anywhere else But Delta Kits has them. Hurry though they only have a few left! I was lucky to grab one!

Thanks Korey!!!

I think this tool is fantastic, in fact I would say it is the best addition to our kit in many years. Not only does it speed up the drying process a massive amount, but it also helps show up those legs that might have been obscured to you by the glass expansion.

Want to save time on every job, this tool will certainly go a long way to helping you do so.

Thanks Delta you have got this one bang on.

The primary purpose of the heat sink (heat exchanger) is to speed up the cooling process after heat is used to remove moisture from damage. The fins on this simple tool provide more surface area than a solid block of aluminum so the heat dissipates quicker.

If the entire windshield is hot the benefit is negligible. The heat exchanger will pull heat from the area that it covers, but if the entire windshield is hot the heat will migrate quickly to that area as it is being cooled. We still recommend that the windshield be shaded from direct sunlight during hot weather. This is my opinion based on limited testing so far so I will be interested to hear if anyone disagrees.

We will soon have a small cooler and reusable ice that can be used to keep the tool cool, but using a vehicle’s air conditioner is another way quickly cool the heat exchanger for use or re-use. Other methods for cooling include spraying with compressed air, running under cold water, etc.

Keep in mind the tool cools down quickly and does not need to be cold to be effective, so it does not take much to cool it down.

So far the feedback has all been very positive.
