Smudged top coat

I was informed by a customer that they touched the finished lense after I had left. When I go back to refinish, will I need to start from scratch on that lamp? Can I start with a finer grit or should I just do the lense as I do any? Enjoy the weekend people.

In most cases all you have to do is apply another coating of the coat2protect, or you can polish the lense with the 3000 grit polishing disc then apply the coat2protect.

I had a customer do the same thing Saturday. I waited for it to dry then applied a lite coat over the area. However a few weeks ago a customer rubbed his finger across the lens after I advised him not to touch it. It left a bad blimish. I used the polish and buffed it out, then reapplied a coating to the entire lens. That worked.
I worked on a Maxima se, HL Saturday. When I removed the blue tape, I had a small film come up off the bumper about the size of a dime. The remainder of the bumper looked fine. I just finished his mothers Q45 Infiniti and no problems. This is about the second vehicle that I have had this happen to in the past few months. I was using 3M on the last one and this one I used a wal-mart brand. I didn't have any wet tape, or excessive prep spray. It was completely dry when I removed it. Time of tape being on vehicle was less than 30 minutes, and I was in full sun about 59 degrees: I touched my UV towel to the spot and it covered it up, or gave it that shine back. The bumper on this vehicle and the other bumper seems to have had something applied to it. As a result the tape is removing a thin film when lifted off. His rear lights had a clear shield over them and he didn't want me to treat or sand them He wanted me to wipe them off and just buff it. I used a little prep spray and a soap & water spray to clean it. I used a little polish & just buffed it. Those rear lights looked like new. I wiped it down with a soft towel after buffing. I charged him $10 for the rear. I don't know if that was good or not . It took me less than 10 minutes. I did his mothers vehicle rear lights for free. The dealership Told her last week that she would need to replace her headlights that they didn't know of anything on the market that could fix faded lenses. I took photos and she plans to take her Infinity Q45 back this week to show them my HLR. The lenses looked like they just came from the factory. Candyman

I think "coat2protect" is just a cool way to say the "coat to protect". It has nothing to do with the number of ingredients used.

When I called Develp a while back about the same thing with a customer imprint, They told me I had to remove the whole thing because the clear wipe could not to be applied to each other after the first coat dried.

Is your mix the same as it was with develp or is this your own mix?

I did read that you can apply to an area that had been sanded down. and re-yellow X and seal.

I personally will tell the customer not to touch for at least 1 hr or is no customer around I will use my heat gun to speed up the drying process.

If the top coat is not dry (and couldn't be if an impression was left by touching it), mineral spirits will simply wipe the coat2protect away. Then you can re-coat after your typical prep.

DB, I apologize if I confused you but COAT2PROTECT is the name of the 50/50 solution that you are using . You still need to mix the self leveling COAT2PROTECT with a 1 to 1 (50%-50%) ratio in your mixing cup.

Thanks for the information: Iam straight! I normally just buff or sand and it seems to work. I thought for a second I may have been doing too many extra steps. I tell people everytime not to touch. However some have that urge that over powerer them, to touch it. Thay just cant believe what they are seeing is real after the HLR. Candyman
