Battery supply unit?
I need to buy a battery supply unit and was wondering how long the DELTA BTY101 battery supply lasts using a 12v 9watt tube light? also can it be charged off 12v in the truck or is it only 115v chargeable?
What other battery box supplies do you all use out there?

Re: Battery supply unit?
Like with all batteries it is difficult to give an exact number of minutes or hours of use that you will get from each charge and of course the numbers will change depending on the age and condition of the battery, but on average a 12v 9watt tube light should last 3+ hours (constant on) on a new fully charged Delta Kits battery.
The battery can be charged from from a 12V source with the right cable, but we recommend that if you wish to charge your Delta Kits battery from your vehicle that you use a power inverter and the Delta Kits battery charger/maintainer to avoid overcharging and to keep the battery in optimal condition.

I use a marine deep cycle battery with an alligator clip converter, to plug my equipment into, when needed.Charge Last weeks before recharging, (never tried to go longer). Just make sure you get a sealed deep cycle battery, if you get a cheaper basic one you run the risk of tipping over while driving and letting acid spill from the caps and run onto your rug or seats and distroy them (done that).

This is what I have been using for years and have gone though 2 boxes so far. I am down to only getting 3 - 5 days use before having to recharge. I use to get 2 weeks between charging....
Just checking to see what I will need to buy next.

As a rule of thumb the smaller the battery the less effective work time you will get with it. Such is the price of convenience. The smaller batteries work well for me as I sometimes need to put it on top of a ladder, etc. I only need my batteries to last through the day as I plug them in to a charger/maintainer every night.
I used to use a a unit similar to yours but the charger that came with it was not of very good quality so I could not leave it plugged in whenever I was not using it like I do with the Delta Kits battery that I keep in my tool box. The charge did last far longer but I was always forgetting to plug it in. Hopefully the mfg has figured out that is a problem and are using a better charger/maintainer now.
One thing I did like about the larger battery was that it was powerful enough to use a splitter and run two lights at a time or the moisture evaporator and a light, which was sometimes handy.

I used Delta Kits mobile battery pack to help me win the olympics and use it in my daily operation. I would not be without it. A mobile power supply in my opinion is vital and should be part of a professional WSR technicians kit. You cannot always count on the vehicles 12v source being accessible or that it will work.just chippen away wrote:Now, I would like the opportunity to here from Techs on what they use for there power source to run there UV light.

Re: Battery supply unit?
We use the Delta Mobile Battery pack as well. This is a very compact, lightweight, durable designed product.
I have used it alot and in fact one time in particular I got 22 repairs just out of that one battery.
I do not keep my chargers in my toolbox at the time with every thing else in there and basically bring it in and plug it up for a full charge over night unti my next day.
I have relied on the customers vehicle as well and have seen a significant amount of peoples outlets not working.
I purchased the 10' coil extension cord from Delta and will use it when and if my mabile battery pack dies within my day.
