Has anyone tried a heat gun? I have a heat gun which has 3 settings on it. I also have a 1500 watt inverter that can be hooked straight to the car's battery while the car is running of course for the few minutes it takes to warm up the windshield. Just wondering with all te experience on this site what your thoughts are with this type of setup. Would rather heat from experience before actually trying it for real.

To be quite honest with you, I wouldnt reccomend a Heat Gun for say. Just because that to me, produces entirely too much heat for what I need. A heat gun if not properly used can indeed melt the paint directly from the vehicle, Imagine what it could do to laminate!

I don't normally recommend a heat gun either as I find a hair dryer is safer and works just fine for warming. However, I do have a Milwaukie heat gun that has variable settings from cool to extremely hot and everywhere in between. The fan is not as strong as a hair dryer, but I have used it "very carefully" for drying out long cracks using an attachment that concentrates the hot air into a small area.
