Who uses 4000 grit?
Who uses 4000 grit?
I use deltas kit 320,600,1500,3000 and the hard coat. I get wonderfull results, but I can see fine scratches. I want to be able to remove as many scracthes as possible before appling the hard coat. I was thinking about adding a 4000 grit after the 3000 and using compund and polish. Then cleaning it and add the hard coat. I know most customers wont notice the scratches or even care since the shine will be amazing, but me personally i like perfection. I want to leave the customers place knowing I did the best job possible.

Re: Who uses 4000 grit?
Some people like to use polishing compound after the 3000 grit polishing disc. We have a polishing compound and polisher available.

Is this use with the polishing pads you sell? Does this help with the scratches? After the polish do I just clean it good with the plastic cleaner u sell before applying the clear?

You can use a wool or foam pad with the polisher and yes it will help aid with the visual appearance of the lens. After you polish the lens with the polishing compound, clean it with the cleaner, and apply the coating.

What do you recommend best foam or wool pad? Do you sell the wool pad?

I do not prefer one over the other. You can purchase the foam pad from us or you can pick up a wool pad from most paint and automotive supply stores.

Why don't you try wet sanding with 1000, and 2000. the 3000 disc they sell is a good on time use wet sand using the matebo. You will not need the polish compound and the wool pad...

Re: Who uses 4000 grit?
I agree with just chippen away that the polish and pad are not needed. We have done test after test where we do one light with buffing and the other without and rarely can anyone tell the difference from 12" away, but if you look at the lenses under a magnifying glass you will see a slight improvement when using the buffing pad and polish with a good rotary buffer. The Metabo random orbit buffer is my preference, but the Makita is amazing for polishing with a compound. I prefer the wool pad, but I think that is more of a personal preference, and since going to a high quality 3000 grit polishing disk I have quit using the polisher all together. Now if I think a customer will get out a magnifying glass, then I would still give it a buff, but so far that has not been an issue.
