I want to give a brief report on just what the NWRA is currently working on and what the efforts have been for recent months.
Deb Levy and the board of directors got actively involved in the recent attempt by a private company to take over the administration of ROLAGS (windshield repair standards). The NWRA retained legal counsel (not cheap) and met with NGA directors to get the process stopped and direct ROLAGS to a non profit organization such as the NWRA. In the end, all parties involved agreed with this direction and have pledged cooperation and support of ROLAGS.
The board is trying to grow the new parent organization GGCA with good success. Membership of influential companies is growing, including Waste Management. This is going to be good for windshield repair as more large, and influential, companies that are committed to “Green” see the results of windshield repair and scratch removal.
We are communicating with CARB, the California board that is mandating the solar reflective windshields. We are preparing to test windshields to offer the results to CARB and push the concept of other ways to achieve the same effect. This is really important to all windshield repairers, not just California.
These are all worthy projects that the NWRA is actively involved with every day. These are the issues that can severely injure your business if they are not directed towards an entity that is repair friendly and understands the issues of the repair community.
We are also planning the next conference to be held in Ft Myers in May of this year.
Also please remember, all participants in these projects are volunteer and spend their own money for travel, lodging, etc. These efforts cost money and most of the NWRA funds are raised from membership fees.
With the price of the membership it seems to make sense to support these efforts and hope that the association is successful rather than wait and see if the NWRA solves all problems before joining. Give your support and you will see results. The association has grown and improved by leaps and bounds since the early days. I was on the board then and now and there is no comparison in the professionalism, commitment and results.
