Today brought the news that the CARB "cool car" reflective windshield program has been canceled.
In their list of reasons CARB quoted...."The possiblility of regulations had brought concerns from many, including some in the windshield repair industry (NWRA) who feared the glass might not be repairable if the regulations were enacted as drafted".
That is 100% the NWRA input to CARB.
Great news for all of us!

Re: Great News! Carb Canceled - follow up
Four of the five articles I have read about the CARB "cool glass" cancelation used the reason that the coating would block electronic signals, gps, ankle bracelets, etc. Only one referred to a concern that the windshields could not be repaired.
I know our efforts were noticed by the board and our dialogue with them was cordial and productive. It may be that the unrepairablility (new word) was not a major factor in decision but at least we passed on some education to the board.
I wouldn't want anyone to feel like the NWRA was trying to take more credit than deserved.
