Tent Stolen?

For those of you with tent operations. There are a couple of practical issues that I see to this type of operation. I will be having a laptop and printer set-up for receipts, as well as a few display items and signs etc. I can definately see a need to store my repair equipment, computer and printer in my truck during a bathroom break, but what do you people do when this 'need' occurs. As much as I'd hate to come back from a bathroom break to find my tent stolen, it just can't be practical to tear down your whole set-up for a bathroom break. I suppose you could ask a kid to stand guard for $5.00, but there may not be someone available when you are in dire need. How far do you go in breaking down your set-up for something like this?

Never have had this happen or heard of it. If someone stole a canopy then they sure must of needed it more than I DID. God Bless 'em!!!!
Usually when I set up to do a tent local I typically am clos enough to the bathroom entrance or within minutes i am back out there.

You could do this. Get you some rain barrels and somehow strap the canopy down to it. I even seen a guy chain lock his to the rear of his truck????

There was another incident on the forum here where someone had there toolbox mugged right off the customers vehicle's hood!

Average popmup is less than a hundred bucks whats the worry? I assume you wiegh it down to keep it from blowing off? some guys use a small concrete block with a small bolt that sticks thru the hole on the base put a nut on it makes it a whole lot harder to run off with

If you are that afraid of having your office ripped off and you are in a lot with employees coming in and out, just ask one of them to watch over your office from a distance for 10 min.'s or so... Just have a good repore with the ones that own or use the lot...

Yeah, I kinda guessed this would be the best idea, and I will aim to set up in lots with a good number of employees. Sometimes the best answer is simply to plan ahead.

Of course if you are useing someone like ACT you dont need a bunch of stuff cell phone, tools and a clipboard for invoices

Sorry GlassStarz, I'm not yet familiar with al of the acronyms. What is ACT please? Not sure if it is available in Canada but will look at it once I know what it is.

1) use the bathroom facilities before you set up.
2) watch your liquid intake
Pay attention to the above mentioned and leaving your tent will be rare. I will pack up all the small stuff, pull vehicle underneath tent and lock-up. Not fool proof but maybe more trouble than the potential thieves would want to deal with.

Thanks for the 'Clarity'.....I actually like your idea, and agree that planning ahead is best. This isn't really an important topic, just one of those 'what if' kinds of things.
Since GlassStarz hasn't had time to let me know what ACT is, perhaps someone else?

A.C.T. stands for Auto Glass Claims Team. It is one of the services that you can use to send your insurance claims to the networks, who in turn file them with the insurance companies. They are owned by Liquid Resins, so because some of the members of this forum spread rumors about not being able to mention our competitors here, you often won't get responses to questions like this. It's all very silly really...but I digress.

These days most windshield repair technicians I talk to bill directly through the SGC website and Harmon websites for free, but for Lynx claims most are still using a service like A.C.T. I.B.S., Quest, Data Tranz, etc. Which one is best for you depends on your business model. If you do a google search for autoglass claims team you will find the A.C.T. website.

This is getting off topic so it may be best to create a new topic under business development, or better yet, find an existing topic where A.C.T. and other insurance billing options have already been discussed in detail and post there.
