Bridge suction cup problem

Post by Mr Bill »

Is it ever necessary to do maintenance on the vacuum pump mechanism for the suction cup on the bridge?
One of my pumps doesnt pump smoothly. I have to push harder than usual to overcome resistance. Once I have applied enough pressure to the pump, it makes a PUTT noise and then goes all the way in..
What can I do to fix this?

I had a similar problem regarding the suction cup on one of my bridges. Turned out that over time the outer ring of the suction was wearing a little unevenly. I gently rubbed 0000 steel wool around the perimeter of the suction cup and it evened it out. The problem was resolved immediately. Later on, I had the chance to talk with Brent from Delta Kits who mentioned the same technique. I'm not sure if this is always the recommended remedy, so please check with Brent or someone from Delta Kits before taking my word on this....

Shortly, after paulrsf talked to Brent we created a video detailing the proper maintenance procedures for the B300 bridge. I am sure the video below will help you out but if not feel free to call in and take advantage of our free unlimited technical support.
