Pit Resin Leaks?

I seem to be having trouble with my pit resin in the squeeze bottle building pressure, and leaking out. I guess in the warmer weather it causes this. Is anyone else having this problem, or does anybody have a solution?

After you use your drop of resin, turn it upright and suck it back in. What I will do is squeeze the bottle and cap it so it has room to expand and leave it in the up right position. As you un-cap it for the next job, let the air return to the bottle and repeat as above.

I've had the same problem the past few weeks. I leave my kit inside except traveling to and from a WSR job. Inside the cap is full of resin. I may have to order another bottle or two. I've gotten use to leaving the darn thing upside down to keep the air bubbles out. I put it right side up after I finished Thursday. I will see if my next repair is better. I wiped off all the excess and cleaned the top prior to putting it away. I'll let you kow how it turned out.

If you are storing your pit resin upside down in your too box, which will help reduce air bubbles when you apply the resin, you may want to try just flipping it when you start the job rather than all the time. It typically takes less than 5 minutes for the air to rise to the top so as long as the bottle is upside down for that long you should get the benefit without the mess. This is obviously more important during hot weather.

just Talked to Jonathan: Ordered a bottle. I had no problem this morning with my pit resin. I took it out of the case and turned it upside down when I started work on a WSR. It was fine, no bubbles or messy to work with. Thanks Brent. Its so hot here, I have to work as early as possible. At 8am its above 80 here in the shade. Weather service forecasting very hot above 95 for the remainder of July and August the same with high humidity. Have a good week.

No problem. Please let us know what you think of the 144-14. Remember, if you don't like it you can send it back for a full refund. Only one week in the 90s here this year so far so heat really hasn't been an issue for us. The high is supposed to be a pleasant 80 all week. This is the one time of the year we get to brag about our weather for a couple of months.

Good afternoon west coast! Its hot in the east. I used the Pit resin 144-14 this afternoon on a large 18 wheeler. The first thing I noticed was, it didn't run out fast; and had very little shavings when I scraped it off. It was shipped on Monday and I got it today. Thats faster than the regular del. The temp of the Ws was about 107. I cooled it to about 97.3 with the vehicle parked under a large tree. The outside temp here is at 101 -103 F; I took Franks advice, took my time and used a probe to flex the line cracks. I had a 1/2 inch star/bulls combination. It turned out great. As a result the manager of the local division of the company has offered me the repairs for his fleet of about 15 - 20 trucks. This will be a weekend repair or a late Friday when most of his trucks are in. Thats what I like about this business. I drove a litttle extra to do this job at no additional charge and the reward came back to me. Have a good day.

I haven't had any pit resin bubble problems since I started dipping the resin out of a small bottle with a straight dental pick I got at a flea market. The tool is stainless and the tip is shaped like a round toothpick. The drop of resin that clings to the tip isn't large enough to support a bubble in most cases.
