Exactly... liability ins. is for the people who would sue you over tripping on your equipment, etc. I don't know what all it might cover...

Liability does NOT cover things like: (the damage most likely to occur....)

Damage you do to the vehicle you are working on.
Any damage from "fender benders" you may cause.

In a worst case event like total loss of a customer vehicle or damage to the property... I don't know... it would probably come down to the insurance company's interpretation. But the advice I have had is don't expect liability to cover any damage you cause to the car you work on.

I believe its bought incase some trips over a power cord or stool etc and tries to sue you, but Im not sure.

Does it cover you for driving dealer car's on their lot?

Thanks Guys...

Okay, directly from the source, here is a general idea of what it covers. If you have specific questions, you can call Ashley Bustinza or Bryan Haas @ (866) 741-6560.
Ashley @ RLI wrote: The insurance we offer is called the @Home Business Protection policy, and
is actually a small business package policy for many types of home-based
businesses, just one of those being windshield repair. The basic policy
includes coverage for business personal property (such as repair kits,
resins, tools, etc.), and business liability, which is mainly intended to
be liability against third party bodily injuries. We also have a couple of
optional coverages available, electronic data processing equipment and
money and securities, which I explain to anyone who calls, but I don't
think you were asking about the optionals.

The liability we offer for windshield repair and other businesses that work
on autos, RVs, boats, etc, has very limited coverage for damage to the
vehicle they are working on, and this policy should not be viewed as a
crutch to fix any mistakes they make on their repairs. It is not a garage
keepers or garage liability policy; those policies have more comprehensive
coverage relating to auto work, but are also much more expensive. I always
explain this to any windshield repair business owner who calls, and make
sure they understand what they are getting for the price. The RLI @Home
Business Protection policy satisfies the liability insurance requirements
of Safelite, ACT, Lynx, and other similar referral networks.

Hello All,

When I originally posted all the info on getting insurance through RLI, it was on the old forum so the step by step process is in there somewhere if you want to hunt for it. It should help out quit a bit. It was posted under my old user name of "bfenne" but I do not think that will help much since user name info was not carried over, I think? I am glad to see that there are quite of few shops out there with RLI. Best Deal Going or at least it was. Is there anything cheaper out there now?

I just cancelled my $500,000.00 a year RLI policy that I got from Allstate Ins. and had for the last five years. It was costing me $291.00 a year. Come to find out the liability insurance only covered any accident in my home office, it did not cover if I damage the vehicle such as a resin spill on the paint or if I caused a scratch on the vehicle etc etc. You may want to really check out your RLI policy or ask your agent as to what it really covers.
What is this garage coverage thing? Never heard of it and neither has my agent?

Is there a policy option that would cover damage you may cause? or is does that type of damage rarely come up?

Some customers require vendors who work on thier lots to be insured and of course the Networks require it as well but in reality the RLI doent cover anything that actually might happen but it fulfills the rquirement so if you want to work there you have to buy it :?
