WINDSCREEN/WINDSHIELD REPAIR IN OTHER PARTS OF THE WORLD
Sirs , I am just wondering how the windsceen/windshield repair differ in other parts of the world, from the USA?? I was recently over Ireland and it seems that CARGLASS/AUTOGLASS(Belron) seems to be replacing and repairing approx 75% of the insurance work no networks in Ireland everyhing is steared to the Belron pockets ?????? Is it like that in your world??? Would a Belron Insurance accept an invoice from you for a repair??? and the average repair for a car dealer is approx 70 euros??, Do you have to be a registerd glass shop or carry any Liability Insurance, how about Garage Keepers insurance?? What is your main source of income ie General Public? Insurance? Car Dealers?Fleets????? Do you use a tent??? I am--looking for some feed back please--PETER

In the UK, Autoglass ( Belron), are the market leaders, their increase in market share only being prevented by the monopolies commission. Insurance companies have recommended repairers on their fully comprehensive policies, setting paltry or no reimbursement limits if you should decide to use someone else. Most of my work is to the vehicle trade or through recommendation.

Re: WINDSCREEN/WINDSHIELD REPAIR IN OTHER PARTS OF THE WORLD
I find it much the same as Glasseye, although I concentrate on fleet work. I am finding that the dealers stock is coming in with very poor quality repairs carried out before I get there, as I have said in the past the general quality of WSR in the UK is extremely poor.
For Insurance I have public liability in with my traders policy about £1200 per year.
The insurance market I find is very hit and miss, with the goal posts being changed on a regular basis, cannot wait for the day when insurers stop giving glass cover out.

It is extremely expensive to run a business in the UK, fuel at $10 per gallon to start with, those prices you are getting are about comparable with over here. I make my money by doing 3+ jobs per call, depends where you set your income standards I suppose. I think being self employed in the UK you should be aiming for £50,000pa, or there abouts,
