Why?
Yesterday I took a trip down to Shreveport, La. Upon my arrival their at the edge of town I seen something that caught my attention. Someone was doing WSR for $10! It was hard for me not to stop and question him WHY? You dont have to give yourself away for free, and you are not only hurting yourself you are hurting the WSR Industry. Why would anybody do that?

in every profession there are lowball idiots. They come and go like dust in the wind so don't waste a single moment worrying about it!

Re: Why?
What I hate more than 'Lowball Idiots" are the guys (gals) that do inferior work. This makes more mad than anything else. The car wash repair guys in my area do more harm to a windshield than they do good.

Re: Why?
Its probably like the Free Repair sign it gets you in and your repair takes a little more work than the basic so its more $ im sure he does some for the $10 but I doubt its many. I have seen several people who work this way and depending on the area you live in the customers are realed in differently. Pretty impoverished area down there gotta get em to stop somehow

Why do categorize Shreveport, LA. as impoverished?GlassStarz wrote:Its probably like the Free Repair sign it gets you in and your repair takes a little more work than the basic so its more $ im sure he does some for the $10 but I doubt its many. Re: Why?
The price of a windshield repair varies depending on the region your in. There is a major outfit in Utah that only charges $19.95 per windshield repair, but I bet they don't bill the insurance companies $19.95. We are firm $65 per windshield repair, and at times we do have to explain to people that you get what you pay for.

Gee I dont know Wikipedia says the per capita is 22k its a town in one of the poorest states and Shreveport is 25 % lower than the rest of the state? Guy does $80 a day he is making as much as the average resident? Median is $35 and has only risen less than 5 K since 2000 poor areas folks are happy making a hundred bucks a day and live better than most of thier neighborst4k wrote:Why do categorize Shreveport, LA. as impoverished?
Re: Why?
I live in Louisiana and have visited Shreveport, LA numerous times. Internet statistics are very misleading. Shreveport, LA residents are no more economically depressed than the same customer in New Orleans. I think he is using the $10 repair sign to attract customers. Maybe he knows something that I/we dont know (LOL). I wish him great success!
Re: Why?
You know, I see some curb side advertisemnts of people offering windshield repair, and wonder, if they are successful in their endeavors. After seeing them at the same location month after month, year after year, I can only come to the conclusion of "yes they are profitable". Partly because, businesses in Louisiana charge high rates to operate from their lot or property, and most will not allow you to do so. It is very difficult to aquire a stationary tent location in Louisiana that has high traffic.
If you do not see the $10 windshield repair guy there after 30 days, we will all know his technique did not work and he most likely did not have permission to offer the service.
