Reapplying the UV coating?

Post by smcdonaldaz »

Before the UV coat fully set someone ran their fingernail lightly across a head light I restored and it left a light scratch. Will I need to strip it or will reapplying the coating take care of it?

Thanks

Depending upon how bad the scratch mark is, sometimes you can mix just a little of the chemicals and see if that takes care of the sistuation. If that doesn't do it, use a 2000 or 3000 grit pad to sand the lens, then reapply the coating. If it was a rub mark, and it had not dried, you could have used the clear container to pull the finger or rub marks out. I have had this happen to me more than once, after I told the customer not to touch the lens.
