Actualy Delta resin does just fine, I think the reason they don't recommend it is because crack repair can be a really iffy process. For example if the crack is older then a few weeks it probably has dirt in it, and they don't turn out as well. Also right now insurance companies won't pay for a crack longer then 6 inches. I have done tons of Long Crack repairs with my delta and I really like it. However I think that it just takes to long to mess with. In the time that it takes me to fix a crack I could of done 3 chip repairs. And anyone that has ridden with me knows that it doesn't take me long to sell one. :)

LOL

Biased GT? :)

We have a number of customers who do long cracks, and do wonderful repairs.

Do we advocate brand new customers to go out and push long crack repair? Absolutely not! The time involved, lack of insurance backing, and higher learning curve make long crack repair a niche that is not appropriate for the majority of new customers.

I think most people realize that pushing long crack repair to new customers is a marketing ploy to sell product, so people like you can say exactly what you said.

I use the gravity method never been one to lube up a cup and follow the crack with a bridge I could see at times that would help. To be honest with you I rarely have a problem getting resin into the break I just work them.

I believe the current thinking on vertical crack ends is that they are more likely to run. The ends that run down to a point like a typical star leg are thought to be more stable. If that's what you mean? There is definitely disagreement in this area.

I do cracks that connect to the edge... I hardly ever see one that doesn't.

WSR suppliers should know about the "72 hour" cure thing... whoever tests the resins for tensile strength, etc would have to know when to stop curing. I would say that's a myth. UV adhesives are widely used in other industries for manufacturing... these products would not have exposure to the sun, so the curing process would have to be complete in the factory. Maybe the UV lights we use are not as effective as the industrial equipment? I know there are cure lamps a hundred times more powerful than what we use.

The 72 hour cure thing is definitely not applicable to windshield repair resins...

Personaly I pass on cracks over 3" not sure fixxin the big ones is doing the customer a favor and definatly dont think it helps our buisness as a whole. From what I can see big cracks tend to fail and a failure gives the customer the impression that all repairs fail. happy customers may tell a couple people, unhappy ones tell evreyone!
