Certificate Of Insurance Letter

Post by DryStar »

I recently received E-mail from SGC to update insurance certificate. Not a problem but they also asked to be listed as additional insured on certificate? I've been on their network for over 6 years and have never been asked that before. They are a TPA, why would they need to be listed on certificate? Does anybody know if RLI charges extra for that?

They charge a $20 fee for the additionally insured. They will add them and you can send the payment later.

I really wouldn't have a problem with that with fleet accounts or other but SGC? They don't provide any referrals unless they are 40-50 miles out of their service area. I don't see these request from Lynx or Harmon networks. So why is SGC asking for this? They are neither the insurance company provider or the customer to be listed as additional insured. They are nothing more than a glass claim processing entity. I just don't get it.

Call your area Rep and voice your thoughts. If you feel you are not getting the work to cover the added fee, then step out, If you are getting the work then just pay it as a cost of doing business... You can right that off the taxes also...
It just sucks that we have to cover all these fee in the first place.
I have a car rental company requesting the same also. that is already a balloon payment gone.

I've had a few large (nationwide) fleets pull that one on me as well. I raised my price to not only cover the cost but more than compensate me for the trouble. I told my contacts what I was doing and the overwhelming response was a shrug and a "can't see it from my house".

Cheers;
