Hertz "order to pay" fees

Post by Dave M »

Those that have Hertz as an account, how are you handling the new JP Morgan fees per invoice? As a vendor for Hertz I was required to sign up with this ETF program 3-4 years ago. This past August a per invoice fee was added to the program. It really sucks! On a monthly basis the first 10 invoices are $3 each, the next 11-100 are $1.50 each. The monthly fee is deducted from your EFT account. Invoices are billed on a PO and I have been able to put a maximum of 3 invoices on one PO. That does cut down on the monthly total. What say ye?

You must be one of the fortunate few independents that does have a vendor status with Hertz. Around my area it is mainly controlled by contract with Safelite and another franchise repair company. Do you service an airport account where all the volume is at or just multiple satellites locations?

Also I'm not totally clear on..are you being charged for each job performed at 3 dollars or is it 1 dollar per job because you can list 3 jobs on P.O.? Whichever, it does stink that they collect this extra charge because I know the rates offered by rentals are low to begin with. I guess volume makes up for that.

It is an airport Hertz service area. I've been servicing this account for 17 years and when Safelite came in as their national account the Hertz manager demanded that I stay on as the repair business and Safelite could do the replacements.
The $3 fee is per invoice. I can get 2 vehicles per invoice and 4 invoices entered onto the Hertz "collector as one number.
I know this sounds confusing but like with anything else, once you use it for a while, it's pretty simple.

Hi DAve,

I do not service Hertz but I used to service Enterprise which had its own issues that were beyond our control. I guess what I am saying is owning your own business does not always mean the hassles you face will be created by you as I am sure you know. As much as we would like to think we have total control we do not over an account. What we do have is control over our choices. If you have been with them 17 years I would say they have been a good account to you and have fed you well. Sometimes it is easy to get micro focused on something that bothers you that we forget to look at the big picture. it seems like you would stand to lose alot more than the invoice fee they now want. Not sure if timing is right or what you operating costs are but that is what price increases are for. :)))

Good luck with your situation.
