BEING NEGATIVE

Okay look.. yeah i am new to this fourm.. And I do find it to be a big help.. But the negative attitudes are pushing me to leave.. all the smart comments are just uncalled forif somebody says something you do not totally agree with.. yeah post your opinion but don't ball them out.. If somebody posts a topic that their is already a thread about.. dont make fun of them and call them a newbie and act like they are lower than you... Look we are ALL one big family and can all feed off eachother.. I am just asking nicely for all the negative comments to stop and all the smart attitudes to stop.. it really is uncalled for and annoying.

OurGlass, Don't let the negatives run you off. There is a lot of great information on here and for the most part everyone seems helpful. I have put my foot in my mouth a few times here and have shared things that I needed to be set straight on, but it's all good. I get on here to learn from others who have pioneered the way for me and every once in awhile I hope I contribute a little too. Just hang in there and don't let anyone get to you. Trouble is we are all different and what you see as a negative I might see as encouragement. There is also the point that what is written can often be read in different ways, sure we are all here to help but we like guys who also help them selves. Treat it as having a discussion in the pub with a big group of mates, you cannot please all of them all of the time.

You are right, sometimes I am negative to the people who do not take the time to help themselves as Screenman just stated. I joined this forum 2 1/2 years ago and for the first month I just searched older posts and got up to speed on what people had already offered up as useful information.

There are negative people in all walks of life including this forum.

There is a feature on this board that is seldom used, but that I highly recommend. In your User Control Panel you will find a Friends and Foes feature. If you feel certain people always give good advice and are truly trying to be helpful, put them on your friends list and their messages will be highlighted. If there are some that are always negative, full of themselves, or full of something else, put them on your foes list and they will be ignored by default.

The best way to minimize negativity on this forum is to simply ignore those with a bad attitude. After you have been on here for awhile you will know who is here to help and who is here to boost their own ego. If you play around with the board settings in your UCP you can customize your view so you don't have to waste so much wading through the muck. Responding to negative posts is like throwing gas on the fire. Unfortunately some people live for confrontation but you can usually avoid falling into their trap by ignoring their posts.

You will also notice that the windshield repair forum goes through seasons. We'll sometimes go for weeks or even months at a time with very little negativity, and then we will go through a period where every nut job in the industry seems to want to hear their gums flap. We are in one of those times when I am receiving quite a few complaints about the negative attitude of some members, but hopefully that will turn around again soon. Hang in there my friend!
