SGC denied me. What does that mean to my business?

Post by SanAntonioWindshield »

So I finally recieved a letter from SGC conrgratulating me on my new business, but regreting to inform me that they can not accept my application until I' ve been in there data base for a year. The funny thing I don't understand is they also stated in the last paragraph of the letter the following:

"Your shop will continue to be in our database for customers preference requests. Also, we do hope that you will take advantage of our website for online invoicing (at no cost to you) and to check the status of you billed invoices".

Few Questions here??

1. What does this mean? They can't accpet my application, but I'm in database for requests, and to invoice?
2. Im sign up with the other networks. Without SGC what does it mean to my customers and business? What insurances can I not invoice?

I need to know who I can tell that there insurance will cover it, and who it won't. I know State Farm doesn't. But who does, and who doesn't without SGC.
I'm very new to this and I want to understand the networks. Can someone please explain what I need to know here.

I am in the same situation. What this means is you are in their system as vendor and can bill them for any insured that you call in the claim.or if a insured requests your business you will be in their database for referral. They will not refer anything else to you until after a year.It is always better if you set up the claim with the insured so they dont steer the job away from you!

Don't worry about it. If you haven't already, sign up with Gerber and Harmon....I don't think they have that 1 year waiting period.

I had the same outcome with SGC and I was also lost and needed some answers. I called them and was even more confused. I finally got a hold of a person that was very nice and helpful. She told me to go out to the customer and call the 800 number to start the claim. When I went out the next morning, I called with the customer standing next to me and it was like I was an idiot. I was on speaker phone so that we could all be part of the conversation. The rep asked to speak with my customer and the first thing she said was "The company that about to repair your windshield is not part of our network and we will not guarantee his work but you are free to use whomever you want". Then she told my customer that he had a $500 deductible he hung up and we both looked at each other and laughed. Thank God he was cool because I really looked dumb.

As long as you are in their system....who cares. Use them for what you need to....the billing! For anything else you should only rely on yourself. Good Luck!

I always find it humorous when a SGC CSR tells customers we can't guarantee the work if your not a preferred network shop. Don't think for a minute, even if you're a approved network vendor that Safelite will guarantee anything. All they will do is back charge you for failed repair from future billings. If you crack a windshield during the repair, they won't cover it. It's still on you. So why do they use this language? Simple answer (to steer that customer to themselves)

Don' t worry they did the same with me in september 2010. I used them for billing and after three customers I was allowed to process my claims through their EFT (electronic fund transfer system). I got those three customer from people whose insurance companies just happened to use safelite to process their claims and yes safe tried to scare my customer from using my service to repair their windshield.
