Commercial Accounts - Liability and Worker's Comp Insurance
Commercial Accounts - Liability and Worker's Comp Insurance
This is about commercial - car dealers, fleet, etc accounts.
Do any of your commercial accounts require you to have a certain amount of liabilty insurance and or worker's compensation to do their repairs?
I'm new to this and in the process of getting set up. I spoke to someone who does repairs, and he said he stopped doing some car dealerships because they required high amounts of insurance coverage, including Worker's Compensation.
He mainly works a car wash full time, so that's where he gets most of his business.
Anyway, for those who work commercial accounts, what's your experience in this regard?
Thanks

Re: Commercial Accounts - Liability and Worker's Comp Insura
We are almost 100% fleet accounts and most if not all want you to have liability insurance. Based on who they are, they may or may not require you as an owner to carry workman's comp for yourself. I am a firm believe you should carry it on yourself. The cost is cheap if something happens. So it really depends on the customer and their policies. I hope this helps. Let me know if you want more information.

I work primarily for car dealers and no one has ever asked me about my Garage Keeper's policy, though I have voluntarily shown them a copy of the declarations page as a selling point for my legitimacy and professionalism. Have only had one dealer require Workman's Comp and I told them to have a nice day, that it is not required of me as a Sole Proprietor to carry it in SC. I do carry an inexpensive disability policy, but I see absolutely no reason to pay into another government run wasteful bureacracy.

$1 Million. It is similar to what a brick and mortar, full service car wash would have. I am a full-on recon tech, so my limits are probably much more than you need. For example, my tool rider covers $25,000 in tools, which you would have nowhere near that much in tools just for HLR and WRS.wsrman wrote:Thanks,

We carry a $2M policy. It is more than most require. I hope this helps.
