Sonic cleaning

Post by screenman »

As the topic says, my wife is a podiatrist and in her clinic she has an ultrasound cleaner so I thought can that help clean our equipment, now not wanting to buy one or use hers I experimented. I stripped the injector placed it in the cleaning cup with the solution, I then shook it hard and placed it near the car speaker with the sound turned up and held it there for 2 minutes. The sound waves really helped clean the injector when I took it out and dried it it came out nice and shiny, I used a quite a bit of bass to get the sonic waves traveling through the solution. I will carry on with the experiment and let you know what sounds work best.

This is not a new system for fine cleaning. The company I used to work for bought a machine from Italy called a Looflirpa sonic cleaner. It worked well for a short while but the filters blocked and the replacement ones were very expensive. Pity, it was a good idea.

A Tuning Fork works just as good creating sonic waves in the solution. Rinse afterward !

Nice topic Graham
I always let my injector just sit in direct sunlight, after I completed my repair. It really helps quicken the cleaning process since the hardened resin is easy to peal off.

I use a similar system but on a larger scale. I put my injectors (25) in a 55 gallon drum filled with a soapy water solution and put a jackhammer under the drum for about 20 minutes. The pieces that are left are always extremely clean.

I just started using my sonicare toothbrush for this and now my tools smell minty fresh!
I must admit though, it is a little harsh on the gums afterward.

I coat my toothbrush with repair resin and brush my dentures before I put them in every morning. Works a lot better than fix-o-dent. Can't get past the taste, however. Here's an idea... cherry flavored resin.

Come on guys! If you looked at every April 1st post that Screenman has wrote...you would figure it out. He's just playing with you! I'm sure he's tipping a brew right now and laughing about the responses.
