So how do you guys track where people are hearing about you? The down side of offering a free referral site is that your customers can call you directly so we cannot track the results on our end. We do know people are visiting the site and they are looking at your listings however. It's kind of like a the sign on your car or your yellow pages ad. Even if you ask every customer how they heard about you, like we try to do, more often than not they say they cant remember or they give some generic reference to finding us on the Internet.
If we charged for this service like everyone else we could issue phone numbers and e-mail addresses that you could track, but then that would defeat the purpose of having a free site. It would however be much easier to prove the value of your listing so I can see why other companies do it. Well, they do it for profit of course, but you get my drift.
Allowing google ads is an experiment to see if it will help offset the cost of offering windshield repair technicians a free place to advertise. We have never asked windshield repair technicians to place ads on the site. Do the google ads bother you?
That is always going to be an issue whenever trying to build a site online for free, that is dealing with ads such as google. The only way around it is to go for a pay package. Whenever I get a call from a customer whether they're simply looking for prices or trying to schedule an appointment, "how did you hear about us?" Advertising is a neccessary investment with any business so by asking this question is a definite "need to know" question.
So far I have received nothing from this site but then again, I have discovered that the area I am in has Safelite everywhere.
No, the G-ad doesn't bother me . Hopefully they would pick me over the others since I'm listed on your site. Ya'll gotta do what cha gotta do to pay the bills, just like the rest of us.
If someone thought a brand new site was going to magically make the phone ring off the hook, I have some mountain view property in Florida you might be interested in. I appreciate the fact that Delta Kits is doing this and doing it for free. If someone wants a high power website, there are any number of people out there that will gladly take your money. Its kind of like the old hot rodding adage:
Question: How fast do you want to go?
Answer: How much money do you have?
I for one really appreciate that Brent and Delta Kits have gone to the time, trouble, and expense to create this free referral site. Instead of complaining about the ads, be thankful that they care enough about us and the industry to try and give us another avenue of contact. If I only get one referral from this site, it will be one more I wouldn't have had without Delta's help.
