People giving a good people a bad name

Post by Zirkon »

My idea to start this business was to get a kiosk at my local mall and do WSR while the customer shopped. I contacted said mall and got this in an email,

Hi Scott,

Thank you for your interest in Fayette Mall. However, at this time we are not interested in this particular use at our property. We have had similar company in the past couple of years try this and it was unsuccessful and not something that worked well at our shopping center.

Thanks again for your interest.

Good luck,
Amy

I spoke with Amy, and she said that they guys that were doing it before would yell at the customers from their kiosk, did not keep their area clean, had poor customer service, and very poor management. It sucks that they were that way. But, I did learn something, that when I am up and running, not only will I not be like them, and will provide excellent customer service, (20+ years experience), but now I am going to have to overcome a bad reputation of someone else. It will be no problem for me.

Unfortunatly people in our business do this all the time. You just have to keep going back. Remember just because they told you no once you can ussualy work on them. Sometimes it has taken me 4 to 5 visits to get someone to say yes. Don't get discouraged, Sell you quality and great customer service (if you have it).

Scott:

There are so many windshield repair people out there doing a horrible job of selling and dreadful repairs. It is not always easy, but with great customer service and good repairs, it is possible as you say to overcome the poor workings of others. It sounds like you know how to successfully execute good customer service so you should be fine. I agree with David, do not get discouraged. Again, good luck.

Hi Scott,

I hate when that happens, but as you know - you cannot give up, and will have to prove to people that the way you operate and do things is different. I think this is something that happens in just about any industry out there. Unfortunately it sometimes seems to me that people view the windshield repair industry an 'easy' industry, individuals popping up everywhere and all the time, a small amount of them givinvg 'us' a bad name. It seems as though they do not feel the need to put any effort into execution of repairs or customer service, only to simply perform their job or be in business for themselves. Thankfully there IS people out there who do care, and I am happy that your viewpoints clearly are different and am therefore confident you will overcome this hurdle and work towards success. Have you looked at other places of doing business in your area yet, and how are you presenting the service to them? You may want to look at slightly modifying how you present information, sometimes you can capture somebody's attention this way. Good luck!

Thank you Coitster and SeeClearly, and SeeClearly, I can't respond to your pm's till I have 10 posts. I think this is my 4th or 5th. If you can see my email in my profile, go ahead and email me.

Glassqueent2 - I do care. I have started getting some ideas for another location, or locations when I start up. Going to check with my local Walmarts, Krogers, some gas stations as well. As for how I am presenting my service, I spoke with Korey from Delta Kits and he gave me some excellent information. Still working on building the business and what I am going to do when I get some free time, currently I work a full time job, and deliver my paper route 7 days a week, and do another delivery route for another carrier on sundays. I just don't have a lot of free time at the moment which sucks.
