Interstate Truck Stops/Travel Centers

Post by Cryatal_Image »

Anyone ever try this and work the CB saying something like "mobile windshield repair Tech or Specialist, rockchips, bullesyes, small cracks, Get it done b4 it cracks out, Lifetime Guarantee".

ANyone tried something like this and did you get anywhere with it? I used to drive truck and everytime i went by this location, i would here this guy selling his wheel and gas tank polishing service. I stopped and talked to him today for awhile and i will be damned if he didnt have 5 trucks today. $7.50 per rim and $20 per gas tank.

I tried selling our service as mentioned above over the cb radio and never had even an inquery. There MUST be something that would real those trucks in since its a D.O.T. concern and a HUGE fine, if not an immediate shutdown due to cracking out. ANyways, i just wanted to know if anyone has any experience from doing this and what to expect?

Greatly Appreciated,

DWG

You may find that most drivers work for a company and really dont care about glass, but do care about looking good going down the road

Never tried that approach, but as a former trucker yourself, you know how much pride a lot of folks have in the looks of their truck as evidenced by add-on lights, decorative chrome pieces, etc. This is all "feel good" stuff and has no relation to safety, performance, or inspectors. Comparing WSR and polishing is comparing apples to oranges. Another reason this gentleman is busy is because of the ridiculously low price he is charging for such a filthy, nasty job. Polishing typically produces a black grime that ends up coating the person doing the job. $7.50 per wheel? I think he's inhaled too much brake dust.

I think it would be worth a try, and I agree with the others, at ?7.50 per wheel the guy must either do a very poor job, or make a very poor living.
