My buddy has a broken back glass on his old Dodge caravan. He has a replacement in another van. Anybody able/willing to talk me thru a changeout?
Thanks
Ken

I would be very careful useing a long knife to remove that window. It is tempered glass which is a good thing because it is 10 times as strong as laminated glass but at the same time the edges of the glass are very fragel.Another method you might try is useing piano wire. Go to one of the local auto glass shops and ask for some they will know what you are talking about. You will need two people to do it but you are almost gauranteed to save it. As far as the molding goes try to pull it out before you start, don't pull to hard because you will stretch it and you could also shatter the window. If for some reason you do ruin the molding when your at the glass shop get some T105 or universal molding it will work you will just have to but the ends together. Im not saying Repair1 idea won't work just trying to give another idea,Either way you choose just make sure you don't push out very hard at all on that window or you will be vacuuming thousands of little pieces of glass. Also don't worry to much about the defrost that shouldent be a problem just remove the wires and tape them back out of the way. If I can be any more help let me know. Good luck

WIN-1,

Igotskills is right. Piano wire should be used to save the glass. Still have to be very carful and take your time or you'll chance shattering the glass.
To get the wire through you may also try heating the tip with a mini torch to melt a hole.

Good Luck!

If I'm not mistaken the OLD caravans had a wrap around molding for the B/G that turned into cement?

Your right Brian,

Molding has to be replaced. T105 universal molding will have to be purhased. Might be cheaper for them to just have a glass service take care their needs.
