I've been out on a busy street with my tent for some of Feburary (way too cold) and the middle of march until now (a month).. My record for customers is 5, with another day having 4.. Lately I've just been having ONE car or none a day!
Do you guys think it's usually real slow for this long? I read some posts about guys in a nice wrapped RV pulling into a town (probably a city) and getting $300-600 days by their second days.
My town has about 68,000 people and were just coming out of winter, being up north west. Thanks and shout out to paka pau! His posts always make me happy.
Good morning: What type of banners are you using to draw customers attention to your tent? You need something that they can read easily, and to the point.
I found myself restricted when I tried a location. Try cold calls at businesses in your area. Medical offices, hospitals, CPA's , Public Utilities etc... I went to a few schools at the end of the day last year and got permission to post a flyer in the teachers lounge. I would be there the next day to repair windshields or do HLR's at a fraction of the cost of replacing. I got 4 at one school and about 11 at another. Use your imagination as to places to generate customers. I got referrals from those schools within the next few weeks. Your quality of work will generate leads. Warm weather does generate more business in my area. Have a Happy Easter
I always appreciate someone taking the time to provide me an answer so here is my honest opinion. I did WR back in the 90's for several years. Since then I have worked for others doing different things. Now I am starting from scratch but with a different approach than you are. Don't take this wrong but especially in the beginning you can't expect all the business to come to you. Use your tent a few days a week but the other days go introduce yourself to the car dealers, used car lots, cable companies, utility companies, heat & air companies, local bus school barns etc. Do you have business cards to hand out? Have you thought about getting a website? How professional is your appearance? What if in the mornings up until noon (or when it gets warmer) you introduce yourself to 5 business a day and then go set up your tent. What if you tried this and it didn't work? In one week you would have introduced yourself to 25 business' and it will eventually come back to you. What if you tried it and it did work right away? You would be Happy Happy Happy right?
