I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there is any difference and what it may be between the Glas Weld Pro Vac 2000 and the Glass Mechanix Pro Vac? They both have the piston with the threads. Also, under whoever's opinion, which is the best? :?

OK.

I don't normally compare equipment so I'll just compare the design.

If one uses either, buy two more arms to operate them.

The tripod piston design provides plenty of suction and pressure and that's for sure.

But, the design itself comes with some disadvantages.

One must be extremely careful not to let the piston slip out of one's hands and slam into the w/s for obvious reasons.

Working edge cracks is impossible without the use of the extension which defeats the excellent suction and pressure afforded without that extension.

It is unwieldy and a touch and go when it comes to sliding the assembly along cracks.

Just my experience in the past.

Those that use the equipment and like it might want to either refute what I've said or mention the positives they have found.

O.K. if we must, I havn't used GM but do use Glasweld and Delta. I prefer Glasweld. You can see all the way around the repair as you work with the tripod design . you also have a diffrent bridge for edge and crack repair, I've found this set-up works best for me . Its all in what you get used to using.BTW I never use any arms to do repairs. just 2 hands

I agree with DesertStars on this one, tripod type bridges with the big vacuum chamber not for me. They all will do repairs it

Ah, sunshine.

You are correct.

One does NEED to use a DIFFERENT assembly in order to work edge and crack repairs even though the tripod piston design affords one hell of a suction and pressure cycle.

No argument simply because that is my point.

But why bother switching between two pieces of equipment from the same manufacturer for different repairs when even the original Novus system will do both jobs assuming a qualified tech is performing the repair?

Not to be argumentative at all but I worked with the equipment I allude to many years ago and have a great amount of respect for the people in that comapany and that is why I won't even specify which equipment.

But. to say that someone can operate that type of equipment without the dexterity of a four armed chimp is to ignore facts.

No offense, sunshine.

Had a chance to use a NOVUS bridge. Found it to be superior to others I have used. Wish I could get one for myself.

ds.

A close analysis will reveal that I was complimenting the DEXTERITY of anyone who finds that type of equipment easy to manipulate.

I used it for some years and guess I never achieved that degree expertise.
