Anyone have any general history in regard to windshield repair? How long has windshield repair been around? Who invented it?

Thanks. That was just what I was looking for! I had heard that NOVUS invented the process. I like their equipment and they seem to do quality work. How come you never hear much about them on this forum? Is it because they are franchised rather than independents? I used one of their bridges for a couple of repairs and was impressed. A buddy of mine who owns a body shop borrowed it from the NOVUS guy one weekend. Anyone know how I can get my hands on some of their resins?

NWRA site has some good info on the roots of wsr.

BTW, novus didn't invent wsr, but were one of the early pioneers in the biz...

If memory serves, 3M was behind "inventing" wsr.... according to NWRA

3m may have invented some type of ws repair process, but what I've found indicates that NOVUS invented the "resin injection" process for windshield repair in or around 1972. That process is what all modern day ws repair equipment manufacturers have copied, tweaked, imitated and expanded upon.
