I just recieved Safelites application and these guys are wanting a photo of a business vehicle showing the company name or logo. Is this something new or what? I haven't heard of that untill now. Although I'm planning on getting that down the road I sure don't need it to do good work It sounds to me like they don't want people to qualify for thier network. Anybody else had this problem?

Steve,
I'm not one to defend Safelite (I left their network about a year ago after being on it for the first 7 I was in business). I think they have a good point and are trying to assure a certain amount of professionalism. I don't know what their rules are about this, but if they will accept magnetic signs on a vehicle they will only cost $150 or less and last for severaL years.

This is a new requirement but no big problem. Magnetic signs a relatively cheap. Have you been in business 1 year yet? If not, they will most likely send you a letter saying they could not process your request. That's what happened in my case.

Steve,

Do you own or have access to a digital camera? If you do and want to speed up the requirement application process by Safelite just take a photo of your vehicle and add some simple company graphics to your picture on your computer. Not that difficult. This will buy you some valuable time getting singed up until you get magnetics or permanant vehicle graphics in place.

I'll personally never sign with Safelite again and will continue to bill direct or collect upfront from the customer. Main reason being is cause they don't play fair in repair referral rotations. When I was signed up only seen 1-2 referral jobs per year. Some great partnership huh?

Hi Steve,

If you don't want to spend a lot on a sign right now you can try what I am doing. Try Staples (I didn't see the same thing at Office Depot though they may have it). In the same area where you can buy business cards to run through your computer they have window decals and refrigerator magnets. You can make your own sign and print it on a computer. The magnets come as 4 8 1/2 x 11 sheets, I think the decals come the same way. I don't see any reason why the window decals or fridge magnets can't be put right onto the vehicle. One package is $12.

As well,

StarQuest had a good suggestion!

If you do not have all of the graphical tools, if you sent me a scan of a pic of your vehicle and your company name/telno, I would gladly "enhance" a photo for ya!
