Well guys, I finally went out and made my first dollar as a WSR tech. I went down to the truck stop, put up my banners and cruised around the parking area. Nothing happened at the Flying J, so I went across the highway to the TA center. Cruised around and wasn't getting anything, until a guy chased me down in a SUV. I thought, oh crap, it's security and he's going to throw me out-NOT. Said he was trying to call me on the CB and I wouldn't answer and he had a truck there that needed some work. Big nasty combination bullseye and star with two impact points, and a small half bullseye. I used pit resin to cover the area, then drilled a hole so the injector would fit. I then proceeded to fix em both and he was happy and I went on my way. Went down one exit to the Petrol center and a guy called me on the CB. He had a big ugly 1.5" bullseye with lots of spider web cracks coming out of the center. About 10 at least. It was over 2 months old. Fixed that one best I could, he was happy and it was time to go home. I had $60 in my pocket. Small potatoes, but a start and a little confidence to go with it.

Happy to see you made some money, keep hacking at those truck stops. I would go at least once a day if you can, it takes a while for these people to get used to seing you there. Hang in and the word will get out, also make sure you have a way to remove moisture.

Take a look at what these guys do when they pull in, they usually pull into the fuel island. Then as they are filling up they will reach for the hose and water down the windshield and front end of the truck. You have to assume every one you work on has moisture in it.

I,m using a car cigarette lighter and a portable jump start battery for power, crude but it gets me by. The sun is brutal here so if they have been parked a while it's dry by the time I get to it.
