I was wondering if anyone new a way to process a credit card payment just one time? I did a job for a new account and the only way they have to pay is with a credit card. I did'nt no this till after I did the work and was filling out the invoice. So now I am stuck with a $200.00 payment that I can't get paid on
. I checked with my bank and they want me to sign a year contract and charge me 25.00 a month weather I use it or not . If I cancel before the end of the contract I still owe the 300.00 (25.00 a month x 12 months). I really don't want to have to mess with credit cards if I don't have to . I don't think I will do enough to justify the expense. Thanks again

IGS,
Merchant Accounts can be costly. Your bank, in addition to telling you of startup and monthly fees, might not have told you that they still take a percentage of each transaction as well.
You can always check with your customer and see if they will paypal you the funds.
It is free for both you and your customer to signup. Paypal takes a very reasonable percentage of each transaction for their service.

Igotskills:
I questioned if charge cards would do anything for my business, however after I signed up I found business increased. It appears that if you accept charge cards it gives you more credibilty and you will get more cash as well as credit card business.
Try Paymentech at http://www.paymentech.com. When we signed up with them last year and paid a $25 set up fee for Discover Card and a $37 imprinter charge. Forms and signage is free. Processing is done through any telephone and can be done in a minute and half. We accept Visa, Master Card and Discover Card, including debit, checking and gift cards. We have no monthly fees, just 4% off each invoice submited. The money is direct deposited in our checking account within 48 hours.
While you won't see many Discover Cards, it is still worth accepting them as they are very helpful and have many special programs for merchants.
Watch out for American Express, They have poor customer service to their merchants totally opposite of Discover Card. After I caught them twice in breach of contract I canceled them.
I hope this helps.

I myself use a credit card ie dial up method this is much cheaper than having a machine you dial a 1-800# punch in your merchant # a voice tells you to punch in the credit card# and then it tells you to punch in the expiry date and the amount and you get paid in 48 hours . I use a big bank ie Sovereign merchant Services and a small bank. When using a credit payment put your prices up to cover cost of fees ,some accounts you can go after that use credit cards are Penske - Waste management service also Budwiser
