Windshield Damage???
In January, someone put dots of a clear substance on my windshield in the view area of the drivers side.
I am unable to get it off with windshield fluid, nail polish remover, adhesive remover or a straight blade.
The spots are cloudy, but in thinner areas, I can see thru the substance, like it was a coating/nail polish.
This substance is also on my gas cap cover on the car paint and it looks white in that area.
This was done when the person (and his mechanic friend, I believe) was upset that I broke up with him and wouldn't take no for an answer. He/they also put 3/4 of a tank of water in my gas tank.
Now, over $2,000. later I have my car working again, but this constant daily reminder really bothers me, every time I look out my window to drive.
Does anyone have any idea what this is?
I'm hoping not to have to pay for a new windshield too!
Please help.

If I were you, I'd sue the jerk for damages....
But, I would definately let a glass shop check it out as AutoEgo suggested... let them tell you what it is... then get a written estimate for removal (if possible) or replacement if that's all that can be done.
Then, get your tape recorder out and call the 'boy' who did it. Talk for a while and see if you can get him to admit it (on tape), then let him pay for it.
Good luck!

OK, an amatuerish approach ....
One can but assume that these spots are either the result of your ex applying some sort of material (beit paint, epoxy, yada) to your windshield or he/she doused it with some sort of "etching" compound (like battery acid).
If you can run your fingers over the area and can palpate a definate "hump" and NOT a "crater," you are probably lucky. If the material that was applied to the windshield is epoxy/resin based, normal solvents would not dissolve it if it has cured.
You mentioned that you could not scrape the spots off with a straight edge.... Did you use a "brand new" industrial quality straight edged razor blade? If you had less than a perfectly sharp tool AND if you did not hold this tool in the right position, AND if you did not apply the right amount of pressure, chances are the substance would still remain.
As suggested, find a local WSR specialist and explain the situation. He/she may be able to "hook you up" in a matter of minutes, or should at least be able to advise as to why he/she can't.
Be flexible and you may find that a 20 dollar bill can hook you up:)

My two cent's worth
cathyerica,
If you've already used a new razor blade with no results try a glass polish.
If that doesn't work then the glass might be etched and will have to be buffed out or replaced.

Hi StarQuest,
It is Loglite or something like that, 3M makes it too. But yes, it removes urethane from cloth, too. If I ride with Scott while he is doing replacements I always get urethane on me. I don't even have to get out of the vehicle and it's on me somewhere. Baffles me.
It is a little miracle product.
