I have just had my hand slapped by Jeff for a post hurting someone's feelings. Sorry, my insensitivity sometimes runs amock!
Might I suggest that newbies be required to use the search feature before posting a single question? Does that seem fair? Using cookies, it could easily be implemented. One hour- that's it. Any new questions will be for the good of everyone.

Bill,

You know there is a possibility that the question was posted before, but never answered properly. I have run into a couple of questions like that. So I asked the same question in a different manner. And guess what??? I got different answers than the old posts got. Being constuctive in this forum helps everyone. And allowing people to ask questions is essential to the survival of this tool.

Well gee wiz doesnt "new" imply that they havnt been here long and thus havnt learned the ropes? If someone wants info give it or dont who cares if the question has been asked before?

This isn't a flame...

I totally agree. Who cares if the question has been answered before... if someone has time to answer it again, let them. Just my $00.02...

A newbie might not know enough to even ask the right questions, and everyone in the business was a newbie once.

I agree, the more post the merrier. :D

I go on here every night reading and hoping there would be new posts, but lately, I only see a few every night now.

The newbies have spoken!
I meant to say all newbies should read ALL MESSAGES before posting redundant posts.
These forums were not available in 1990, and we learned by trial and error, or used our suppliers knowledge.
Today, it's expected for me to supply my experience if I am a member of this forum. I will, but will select my answers!

Yes and no Bill Who cares if the ask questions that have been asked before? Maybe someone who didnt participate in the last discussion will bring something new to the table. New people bring new questions and often the same old questions again who cares? Answer them if you like pass them off if you dont but remember the purpose of this board is to answer questions and provide a sounding board for other techs ideas lets try being helpful :P

New techs:

The search feature of this forum is great. You can search by keyword and find many answers to questions you have.

New people will ALWAYS be allowed to post their questions freely, even if they are new, and their question has been answered before. If people choose not to answer, that's fine, but I'm not going to limit the posting abilities for new people. Period.
