nor cal start up Questions

Hi,Folks I'm just getting my biz started and was wondering if any one here is from northern ca. (redding area) I could use some info on getting reasonable liability ins. in my area so far quotes have been $1000.00-$1500.00 a yr. all i can say is no way. Also just got informed that i have to sign up with B.A.R. to do biz in ca. at $200.00 a yr. So any info would be helpful, by the way i searched the forum for ins. info but i don't see anyone dealing with northern ca. Thanx any info would be appreciated

They are quite a bit cheaper than what you've found so far. If you're not driving the customer's car, make sure to specify to whoever you choose that you do NOT need garagekeepers insurance!

FYI,
I searched the world over and found RLI Insurance worked best for me.
Mobile Windshield Repair - Home base business - NO SHOP-
$300,000 liability cost $191/yr.

Thanx for the replies, i found an agent in vista ca. that carries RLI ins. Bomba ins. for any one looking. i'm sure i'll have a few million more questions before i get this all set up, so THANX!! for the help so far, this forum is great I looked it over for quite a while and found a ton of good info. here. I'm sure some one has a post on this but in case there is'nt I've found that using a power station to run my 12v tools & UV lamps keeps me out of the customers auto interior more and is more reliable and conveniant than using the 12v from my truck or the customers. Just a thought .

Welcome ruffburr, I use the mobile 12 volt battery that comes in Delta kits. It has been trouble free for the past 6 months. I have even used it as a backup to power a 12 volt paintless dent flourescent light on occaision and it holds a good long charge. Reminds me of the batteries that come with a quality cordless drill- small, but a lot of power. The nice thing is it is compact and you can tuck it in next to the WS wiper area when doing repairs. I agree, I'd rather not use the customers cig lighter power outlet - they could later have an unrelated electrical problem and blame it on you Good luck, keep reading and posting- and like a good battery both you and your new business will stay energized 8) Bob
