I am looking into windshield repair as an add-on to my current mobile paint repair service. I have looked and looked at different systems but cannot figure out which is best. Has anyone had experience w/Glass Weld and the Pro-VAC 2000? I imagine that I will be doing a good volume of repairs as most of my current dealerships have expressed interest. We also do quite a bit of retail work -- so I need a system that will provide excellent quality repairs that I can guarantee for life. What I like about the Glass Weld is that it injects resin while still under vacuum--so air never enters the break. It only has one vacuum and pressure cycle. The Glass Weld systems cost much more.
Also, which is the very best and fastest curing lamp? I have seen one for about $360 that is a radial curing sytem that cures in less than 60 seconds. The lamp claims to make stronger repairs with less shrinkage. The price seems really high though.
I am new here and it looks like Delta dominates on this board. I want the very best system I can get from the beginning -- even if it is more expensive. I would greatly appreciate any and all advice.
Thanks,
Bill

How Much Business Can be generated

Billwags, Welcome to the forum and to WSR. I personally us the Power Vac Injector from Glass Mechanix, but the kits from Delta are above the industry average as well. Both are less bulky to handle and very user friendly. As far as the curing lamp is concern, I personally would not pay the outragous price for the 360 degree UV lamp. I have the standard 12 volt lamp as well as the long crack lamp from GM and they work great. I am sure that Jeff Higgins will have some valuable input on what is the best tools on the market

I'm staying out of this! :)

Except to say that if you do a search for the following terms, you will find info:

glasweld equipment

or

best system

There are a ton more too, since this question comes up quite often.

I find most systems work one way or another and it really breaks down to personal preference just like you current buisness you have tools you like and some you dont not a big fan of the glass weld stuff myself but im sure lots swear by it. Mfg support is as important as anything and I know Delta and Liquid Resins bend over backwards to keep thier customers happy
Dont be fooled by the super cure light dont think it does a better job than the ones LR and Delta sell and besides most of dealership work is done outside and there is a big ole yellow cure light out there 8) although I do have a buddy who bought a $800 pen looking thing from a dentist supply that cooks the stuff off in about 20 seconds (Overkill if you ask me) although if i understand the process the resin should be cured at a steady rate to help with bonding the repair rather than just filling it which rapid cure does maybe Jeff can better expain it?
