resin viscocity
I would like to get everyones opinion on when they use different resins (as far as thicker or thinner) on different types of repairs. Crack repair, thick or thin, bullseyes, stars etc.... I'm still new(about 3 months) and I'm still trying to get to the point of considering myself knowledgable. There are alot of options out there as far as brands go and then your faced with a choice of thickness. I just want to be stocked with the right supplies in order to do good work.

Steve, As you are aware, there are a lot of resins on the market each claiming to do about the same thing. I have found that you get what you pay for in Resins as in any other thing in life. I have used a number of resins from different manufacturers primarly just to see what works the best. I am still not sure but still working it out. I primarly use either Delta or Glass Mechanix resins. For bullseyes I use the thin resin. For stars or combination breaks I usually use a thinner resin, and for cracks I use a resin that is made for cracks which flows well and has a different bonding strenght needed to hold the glass together. I am sure that the other guys have great opinions on their preferences. Good luck.

Anyone Have info on Glass Technology (G.T.) Machine Systems?
Mike just wondering if you could expand on what resin (make & type) you use on diferent repairs. I just use Deltas #144 for everything. I was looking at liquid resins site. Have you used their products? I guess another pint is what cc rating do you ues on diferent repairs.
Thanks

How much resin do you use?
Johnnyques, I am currently using Glass Mechanix resins. They have a Thin resin for bullseyes, a Star resin for combination or star breaks, and a Crack Mender resin for filling cracks. I will use on an average of 5 or 6 drops in my GM injector for cracks and usually about 8 to 10 drops from Star or combination breaks. When I repair cracks, I will use an average of one drop per inch plus a couple extra just to make sure I have enough. Some of the other manufacturers use different viscosity resins for their applications. I would suggest talking with the tech services desk of the resin manufacturer that you are using for their suggestions. Hope this helps answer some of your questions.
So far, I've been using delta resins for all my repairs and about 99% turned out great.

wow, that's alotta drops you're using for stars and combos. I use only 5-6 drops for those most of the time and it filled nicely with some running down the windshield when i lift my injector off. Just passing on info to help save you some $.
