How many minutes do you use up on your phone plan? And what's the avg. repairs do you do per week?

Also, what's the avg. time ACT gets approval for you to do the repairs?

I average around 450 mins. per month. My $39.99 plan allows for 1050 anytime minutes and unlimited night and weekend minutes.

During the summer months I have averaged 41 w/s per week. This figure gets cut almost in half during the winter months.

I can't answer regarding ACT, don't use them!

Fleet work will get you lots of W/S's per week!
I would have to argue with the don't use ACT. It is a viable option especially for a new guy. I am calling in more jobs now for the referral number directly and get the processing done for $7.95 per invoice. The direct deposit twice a week is nice and don't forget the end of the year tax form. The whole set up lets me work in any town I want. They also chase down payment and resolve glitches by the networks. Being in my first year, I wouldn't have been able to get on with the networks anyway.

Not positive, but I think Dave M just meant that HE didn't use them, not necessarily a recommendation to not use them.

Dave M, feel free to correct me if i'm wrong.

Jeff,
You are correct, I don't use ACT for my business therefore could not answer any questions regarding ACT.

Regarding the 41 windshields per week in the summer....that figure may be small compared to other techs! For me, I love it. Started in w/s repair back in 1994, repairing full time and work an average 26 hours per week!!

I believe that you need a variety of accounts, especially ones that depend on you visiting their business on a weekly basis. I'm thrilled when I arrive at one of my rental accounts and the cars are lined up waiting for me. In my 11 years I have never "Coitstered" except when I first started acquiring accounts. There's nothing wrong with "Coitstering" it's just not my cup of tea!

Business will come if you are providing a quality repair and great service. Don't put off till tomorrow what you can do today. Wish I had thought of that one but it is sooooo very true!

What exatly is fleet work? Just curious because on a good week i average from 10-12 repairs. Just trying to get tips for advertisements that work. I have the signs on my truck and am always handing out cards. Also, am always going to the local businnesses. ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Davem thats the way I do it. I think it means less mileage and leg work and you can see by my history that it works for me and I only work about the same hours as you.

Fleet work means car lots, rental agencies, trucking companies, etc... . This is about ninety five percent of my business. There has been a lot of discussion on this forum as to which is better. I think it comes down to personal preference. A good mix is probably the best advice. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Lately I've been filling in when things are slow at my fleet accounts by doing a little "Coistering". This has worked out the best for me because when my rental car lots are turning back cars I don't have time for much else.
