New to the business here in Philadelphia, PA, and have been plowing through a ton of posts here on the forum......some have definitely been helpful.. :)

My basic situation will be basically this....I'll be a private technician under American Glass Resources in Charlotte, NC (who does have a Tax ID #, and a business license), and I'll do all of my filing through them, and won't have to get a business license or Tax ID #. (I'll also be paying them $10 per invoice...)

Now that I've done research on DataTranz, and GlassComp, I'm finding that there is a much better (and cheaper) way to go about doing all of this..... My only question is, will I need to get a personal business license (and Tax ID#) in order to do EDI through some of these software companies? If so, how much $ for a license, and Tax ID#? And how do I go about obtaining the license? Different in every state?

Any help would be much appreciated!

I went to the court house to day to get a business license, they told me in my county no business license was required nor do they have them.

I would need to file a DBA doing business as or assumed name, if I wanted to get a business checking account and so on. cost $13.00

If you go to the site map of delta kits and click on new business start up info it will take you to your states particular requirements.

I went to http://www.irs.gov and found the link to apply for a EIN or tax ID. under forms. fill it out and they will issue you one immidiatly. FREE on line. very helpful as we used to have to wait for snail mail.
