I've been lurking on this board for a week or so, and figured I could go ahead and say hi to everyone. I have been a auto tech at a Gm dealership for about ten years now, and I've seen a few glass techs do businesss at our used car lot. I've always been interested in the mobile tech business, and I see alot of potential in windshield repair. I know little about the actual process of repairing a windshield, I do however know everyone claims their method and tools are the best in the business. I'm just about sold on the Delta Kit, although I may substitute a few items in place of the second bridge. I know everyone suggest going with two bridges is the way to go, but I would like to get my method down first, then business, and when time starts to become a factor I'll invest in the second bridge. I dont have any plans on quiting my job just yet. I'm pretty sure I could land my dealership's used car work, and possibly a few other accounts to begin with. Anyhow, i'm pretty excited about it all, and looking forward to learning alittle more about this business.

Nope, not yet. I'm still saving my pennies, but I am about half-way there. I have a new daughter in the family, so a thousand dollars has been a task to save. I'll have enough in about a month or so.
Good to see a fellow cajun on these boards, and from New Orleans no doubt. I'm from Lake Charles myself, but always looking for a good reason to visit the big easy, maybe you could learn me a thing or two.

Welcome Flippin, You are on the right track with the delta system, (my opinion) and for your sake get the twin bridge set!!!! I now own 4 delta and 1 gm bridges I also acquired some generic bridges. you can operate a few at one time and the car lot situation will require that you move through the work at a good clip to make a decent living so while one bridge will be ok for practice if you decide to go forward with the car lot sales thing you will need at least 3 to 4 bridges to be effective and competitive enough to keep the accounts satisfied. If it doesn't work out for you the market on used delta equipment is very competitive and you can retrieve at least 60 or 70 % of your investment at any time so you have little to lose. I could go on for a while on this subject so I'm gonna stop here. Anyway it goes best of luck and see you around the forum. Scott :D

Maxryde is right on regarding more than one bridge. It shouldnt take you very long to become proficient at doing repairs, and quite often you will find that a windhield has more than one chip to be fixed. You can be so much more efficient and professional with multi-repair capabilities. If you start out with the two bridges you will never regret it.
