Your dremil has a nicad battery they tend to build a memory if not allowed to go flat before being charged. This shortens the amount of the charge that is usable. I have two batterys for mine when one starts to slow I leave the thing on til the battey goes flat put the spare in and go to work. I will go as long as 30 days on a charge and both batterys are at least 2 yrs old. Nicads will last along time (mfgs claim 1000 charges but I think thats a little high) but you have to use them right. Idealy stored nicads will lose 10-20% of thier charge every 30 days stored

Some Home Depots around here have a 'golf cleaning kit' for $9 that includes a blue Dremel Mini-Mite with an empty battery case that holds 4 AA's.

Just a thought on the battery post I used for many years a small 14 amp hour motorbike battery it would hold a charge for about two months and was very cheap to buy and light to carry. looking back it was most probably easier than the power pack.
P.S I do not use lighter plus on my drill and light leads I prefer small crocodile clips.
