Has anyone tried using a hair dryer?

Hi thought I would ask to see what everyone thinks about the idea. Has anyone done this before instead of spending money on lighters or the heat systems.

Using a hair dryer would require over 1000 watts of power. It's a good idea...but my inverter only outputs 350 watts and it's not portable.

Had trouble with a 4" crack one morning. The weather was very cool and I could not get the resin to flow at all. I tried warming the windshield just a little with the defrost on low. Still no help. I then tried a 1500 watt hair dryer on low setting on the outside of the glass. It took less than 10 minutes to fill.

The trouble with using a hairdryer for drying out is that it tends to heat to large an area and this will take longer to cool down than the area warmed by a micro torch.

I agree they might appear useful in a cold situation for overall warming of the glass and you could even stuff it in your jacket for personal warmth, but I have never had a problem warming the screen up with the car heater and getting in the car to warm me up.

Also the problem of power supply I prefer to be completely independent when it comes to this and rely on 12v for everything, you can buy a 12v hairdryer but most of these are next to useless.

Speculate to accumulate spend some money and find what works for you.

Having to heat a windshield means you are in a cold climate.

Not meaning to be a smart a--, but I don't intend to have to worry on how to heat a w/s.

Left Kansas City MO 40 years ago, OK for spring and fall visits but no more defrosting on cold mornings, heavy jackets, gloves, rubber boots, (are tire chains still used?), scraping ice off windows, ice, slush, snow shovels or blowers etc.

Probably the truth is I'm a real smart a--!

Just kinda loafing on a Sat morning, 'cuse the nonsense.
