Glass Medic
Thinking of buying a Delta Kit
Anyone use the glass medic kit? if so, do you like it, or not worth the time and money.
?
glass medic of Eden Prairie, Minn manufactures an excellent w/s repair kit. It is the first system I was trained on with Safelite. I'm not sure how much they sell for but I probably wouldn't buy one. Based on the excellent systems that are available at much lower prices. I did enjoy using it and putting on a show with the acrylic cups and air hoses and electric vacuum pump.
I got excellent results with it. After about six months, Safelite gave us the Glass Mechanix manual bridge system that I also liked and got good results with.
I purchased a Glass Technology 20/20 manual bridge system because I like the "air release" knob that lets you alternate easily between vacuum and pressure cycles. This is what I presently use, but I'm in the process of deciding between the Delta, Glass Mechanix, and Liquid Resin manual bridges when I upgrade my kit this spring.
The replacement cost for the Glass Technology bridge is somewhat higher than these others which is why I'm shopping around. Please bear in mind that I am a firm believer that 80% of the systems out there will give you good results if you've been trained properly, TAKE YOUR TIME! and care about what you're doing.
In my opinion, both the Glass Medic and the Glass Technology "computerized" systems are geared toward "Idiot proofing" the windshield repair process, to make it where a glass company can send out anyone with minimal training to do w/s repairs. Perhaps so, and maybe it works, but both these systems are pricey.
Good Luck!!!
