Drilling??
Re: Drilling??
I have tryed drilling with and without resin on numerous repairs and have reached the conclusion that resin in no way helps me drill holes any faster and seems to inhibit the operation of the bit.Glass drill bits seem to work differently than wood or metal bits in that the glass bits seem to work with a grinding action as they drill and that is why sometimes a broken glass bit seems to work as good as a new one if any of the bit is left on the shaft. definitly not the case with drill bits for wood or metal.
Re: Drilling??
Oh and as far as drilling repairs go I find that I have to drill alot of those tight stars just to intersect all of the legs. Those unattatched legs are a little annoying sometimes..heat or no heat.Oh and I hate having to use the low viscosity (star) resin as it just does not have as good of a refractive index as the thicker resins. That is why I try to use at least a medium viscosity resin on bullseyes if I can.
