I think the guy answered his own question when he said he knew he was putting to much in. My dropper size me be slightly different from the Delta one so I cannot comment about the number of drops, however with practise you will learn what is too much and what is not enough. Now this last point I find out by looking through the mirror into the injector, I do not want to see a big air bubble in the injector body whilst the resin is under pressure.
One of the many problems we have with new guys not getting a damage to fill is from not putting enough resin in the injector to do the job.

Yes, you can add more, but it is an extra step and therefore more time consuming. A drop of resin costs about $.03 so it doesn't make sense to waste too much time trying to save a drop or two. On the other hand, overfilling the injector can cause resin to back up into the plunger assembly (Delta Kits System), which can cause problems if not cleaned thoroughly after every repair. It can also be messy, and of course wasteful.
For those of you using a Delta Kits system the most important part is getting the end seal filled with resin, which means using a dropper or syringe so you don't waste any resin in the threads. The end seal only holds 2-3 drops of resin which is enough to fill all but the largest breaks. We recommend 7 drops so that when air in the break is replaced with resin and the air is removed from the injector, the extra resin fills the seal again before initiating subsequent pressure cycles. You probably end up wasting a few drops of resin on most repairs, but the quality of the repair is dependent on making sure there is never any air in the end seal between the piston and the resin.

I use Glass Magic, and only use 4-5 drops on the average star or wings. On the bulls I go up from there, depending on the size. I get a good deal on the resin so I go pretty liberal on the big breaks. If I have to add some half the time I end up losing some resin while getting the plunger out. I have the posts down even and it suctioned down good, I think the pump may have been leaking on one of my tools though. But anyway, practice makes perfect.
