SGT

Why don't you give us more insite on what we will be graded on and how they are going to be grading everyone on.
I know it is not just on the repair its self and the to final out come of the repair...

Sorta give us a step by step on what we could expect if we competed. I think that would bring more out of the closet thinking "I could do that"

I am one that does not like walking in being blind to what I am going to be doing.

You had two years competing. The first was you will be happy with what ever you get. The second year you knew what they were judging you on and what you needed to bump it up on...

If you would like some competitors, Try letting everyone in on what we need to focus on, that why we would know what we need to work on. As you say " now is the time to start considering this event for the up coming year. It comes up very quick and early preparation is a must to do well.

OK, this is my farewell post

Brent, I'll save you the trouble of banning me (again)

I guarantee you all this:

If ANYONE ELSE would have posted what SGT did using any other equipment name, that post would have been immediately deleted and that person banned

Adios!

Wow, I bet you never expected that kind of response Brian!

In the past the Windshield Repair Olympics has been judged partially on cosmetic improvement of the completed repair, but it is my understanding that more emphasis is placed on the professionalism of the contestant. That includes customer interaction, pre-repair inspection of the glass, safety, etc. Beyond that I suggest you contact the NWRA for information on what to expect.

Brian and I have both commented on the professionalism of all of the previous contestants, and have publicly congratulated past winners and runners up for their excellent performances and the quality of their repairs. SuperGlass had very strong competitors and the Novus technicians are always tough to beat, but in truth every single technician that I watched did a fine job of representing our industry regardless of the type of system used. Some of them will be back this year and you can bet they will bring their A game!

In my opinion Brian is an excellent windshield repair technician and may very well have won the competition using another system but I am very proud that he "chose" to use a Delta Kits system. Brian took 2nd place in his first year of competition and 1st place in his second year of competition which is no small feat for someone who had never watched the Windshield Repair Olympics in prior to competing. Brian is the only windshield repair technician ever to use a Delta Kits system in the Windshield Repair Olympics and he had no one to help him prepare for his first competition, so is it so odd that he would like to have a few other technicians who also use a Delta Kits system join him this year? Regardless of the system you use I would think you would enjoy the comradery of other technicians who use the same equipment and techniques that have helped to make you successful.

The Windshield Repair Olympics is not about the equipment a technician uses any more than a NASCAR race is about the make of car that is driven, or the kind of oil in that car, but does that mean Chevy and Valvoline should not celebrate when a driver wins using their products? Brian is not paid to promote Delta Kits products and never has been.

Brian has already apologized for for unintentionally offending anyone using another system, and I think it is clear that was not his intention. He is a great guy and a very gracious winner as anyone who has competed against him will tell you. C'mon guys, cut him some slack.

As for what to do to prepare for the competition, if I were Brian I would not give my competition any pointers, but that is up to him. All competitors are briefed prior to the competition.

I hope that little rant made you feel better Gary but the truth is that I have never banned anyone for saying they prefer one system over another and never will. Now if someone receives a compensation for saying they prefer one system over another, that is a different story as the windshield repair forum is not a place for self promotion or advertisements. Please don't falsely accuse me of things like that. Be at peace and have a great weekend my friend!

Maybe Brian would like to tell everyone for himself.
I and or We the people are not looking for a step by step wording on what to say or how to repair. Just an out line one what is to be expected and what to maybe expect.

You just worded it as his coach and now he knows what he is to say.
For someone that is that out going and wants to help others, Brian just may want to give some pointers.
It may already to late, but let Brian speak for him self if he wants to..

With the MTE moving to Texas I may even be able to go this coming yr. Would be nice if it was on the west end of that big a$$ State. It takes 4 days to drive all the way across.... Kidding.

Oh good grief. So now I tell Brian what to say? You obviously don't know him...or me.

Come on guys it is a competition, do your own homework. As for jumping on this guy like has happened I think it is a very poor show indeed, his request was totally innocent and with good intentions.

Next some of you will be asking for names and addresses of our customers, certainly if I was Brian I would give nothing away to you guys who I feel have treated him with disrespect.

Holy!

My post really did stir up the head hunters. Sure never ment to. You know I have been posting here for years and most of the time I cant even get a response good or bad but I have always tried to help others in any way I could. Go figure. Mr Bell I am surprised at you. You know I cant help but feel like you are disgruntled with the mods for your previous issues and want to pull me down now. That is fine becuase I would respect Brent wishes either way and would still be a DK user. I think the way you went about it was very poor and has created more of disturbance to this forum than the intentions of my innocent post ever intended. You should have been more discrete and emailed the mod in my humble opinion.

Part of winning last year is the bragging rights of being the "Worlds Best Repair Tech" so I can say dominate becuase I did. Like it or not I earned that privallage with my all of my abilities and DELTA KITS equip. I will try to do so again with other DK users or without and enjoy my experience if I place or if I dont. If those of you who feel I am not entitled to say this feel free to enter and have your skills speak this year.

Guys I do not need a coach or a mouthpiece, I have already given this more time than it deserves. Withouth giving my game plan away all I can say is check previous posts on the WRO and you should be able to find the judges criteria/scoring sheets on line. Those are great starting points...How you implement what they want is an individual thing and makes you standout more than another. Sorry if that does not meet your expectations.

Thank you to those that were open minded enough to see the true intent of my post. Enjoy.

Damn is this glassbytes now? All the finger pointing and retarded claims is why I hate it over there! Let's not stoop to that level...I thinking this is an excellent idea that will create a stronger, better skilled and more competent industry. We need to work together regardless of supplier preferences to continue the growth of our industry.
