Desert Star I was just trying to simplify the mehtod and describe a way of filling small surface cracks I agree you can hear a click but do not do this with a carbon scribe though you can mark the glass.

Another to check to see if the damage is outside or inside is to place the probe directly over the crack when looking straight at it then move your head to a diffrent angle if the crack is to the surface or outer layer then the probe will still be on the crack if it is in the inner layer it will look as if you have moved the probe.
